The Language of Lust Review – Real Truth Is Finally Exposed

In the spirit of full disclosure, I need to be honest.

Im a 30 year old married woman, so probably not the typical audience for this book. But it was an eye-opening read, nonetheless. I learned a lot about interaction between the sexes. Monogamous, poly, swingerwhatever your orientation may be, it is undeniable that you connect with people on a deeper level when you use sensory-rich language.

No lie, even though Im married, I still get hit on. This book was entertaining to read because now I know certain red flags to watch out for if a guy seems like a scumbag extraordinaire.

I gotta say, I cracked up when I saw that the author, Lawrence Lanoff, was labeled the Darth Vader of Dirty Talk. Jedi in the streets, Sith in the sheets, I guess. I loved the names of the techniques. When I read Pavlovs Panty Drencher, I almost spit out my drink. Language of Lust, LOL indeed!

There’s a reason why cliches, while they may be eyeroll-inducing, are so popular.

In the spirit of not judging a book by its cover, I decided to read more about the author in order to develop a more open-minded view of his work. No, he’s not a skeezy greaseball, he’s actually a pretty well-informed guy. His interests are varied over a nice blend of art and science, as he’s studied physics, yoga, spirituality, neuroscience and social psychology. In addition to that, he used to be a photographer for Playboy, so if nothing else, he’s got a lot of experience with having to act cool and professional around beautiful women.

I enjoy studying persuasive language patterns, like neuro-linguistic programming and conversational hypnosis, and can say that Lawrence is very well-informed on how the sexes communicate and how to build sexual tension in our every day interactions. He talks about how he was inspired to create this program after walking up to a girl at Trader Joe’s, and how it ended up in a kerfuffle with law enforcement, when all he was trying to do was appreciate her beauty.

He was disturbed that society’s gotten so obsessed with being politically correct (what he calls the “feminist nightmare”), that a man can’t just be a man and openly appreciate women. However, he realized that the feminists got what they wanted, but made it even easier for men to have casual sex with no strings attached. He started learning about how language can be used to stimulate interest and attraction.

I really liked that he dissected some common patterns found in evolutionary psychology. For example, he shows men how you guys can create emotional triggers that will draw us to you. These techniques are universal, so they will be effective no matter your background, age, or income.

He talks about why women are drawn to wealth because we want to know that the man were with is going to take care of us. But dont worry, like I mentioned earlier, even if youre a broke bloke, youll learn how to use the wealth factor to make you even more attractive in her eyes.

The great thing about this book is that it’s organized in a way to make it easy to flip to whatever part you’re looking for (and there is A LOT of content, so this is no small feat).

However, please keep in mind that, like learning any new skill, you’re going to need to commit to practicing the techniques and letting go of deep-seated beliefs that may be keeping you from having success with women. If you try a technique and the girl still rejects you, don’t get discouraged; just go back to the drawing board, reread that section of the book, and figure out how you’ll handle it better next time to elicit the response you want. Persistance pays!

Lawrence discusses the Madonna-whore complex, and how this theory, first coined by Sigmund Freud, keeps men trapped in a pattern of dwindling desire in a monogamous relationship. Men who suffer from this are unable to see a woman as both sacred (Madonna) and profane (whore). As such, he puts women into two separate categories: the ones he respects and the ones he desires. It’s said that men who develop this complex tend to have distant but controlling mothers.

I think this is an interesting concept, because it tends to be embedded into both the male and female psyche at a societal level. “Good girls do this, bad girls do this…”. I like the fact that Lawrence is helping men understand the complexity of women, and that we are many things (often contradictory) at once.
